My designs are clean and simplistict. My target audience is that of a more senior readership, say ages 40 to 60. Colors used are primary, i.e., Red, Green, and Blue. Imagery is used to help fill the page(s) and attract the viewers attention. Typeface is sans serif to keep readability to a maximum.

Michael – You are working with Feature article content and trying to fit it into a Department article layout. This text isn’t really written to be used in such a condensed format – a Feature can go 2-3 pages (and should). So… what to do? I suggest you look more closely at the explanations for these exercises (in the syllabus) and on the side of the template itself. Return to this and use the text meant for Departments – feeling free to cut type and have more than 1 article sit on the page. Overall – here I think you need larger type and/or an increase in leading for this audience. Also – we are going to talk about image/text relationships and I think this might be good for you to think about. What can the pictures ADD to the communication and not simply accompany it. Probably more image research with a more targeted purpose would be in order.
