I tried to gear the cover towards my target audience more with this. They don't enjoy bright colors or busy works so I took a more minimal approach. Let me know what you think!

Chris – I find this interesting, very interesting… I’ve looked at it for some time trying to figure out where this setting might be (In someone’s home? In a study with a butcher block table? At the edge of a window? Somewhere I would l see a plant, a rock, and a child’s alphabet block?) I am intrigued by the image on the cell phone… but I’m not sure what it is? All in all… this looks like a cover to a mystery book suggesting clues to the mystery. But… it isn’t a lifestyle magazine cover. So, besides the curious setting, I see visual hierarchy issues with the type. The word “Habitat” isn’t really readable… it is only because I know what I am looking for that I make a word with that huge A. The taglines sit in a more prominent place then the issue title. We don’t have a date. So… where does that leave you? I’ve looked back in the blog to find your Exercise 3 covers, but see that you never posted them. Too bad, some initial work on this a few weeks ago would put you in a better spot currently. All I can suggest is to begin again, and ask yourself who your audience is (besides people who do not like bright colors or busy designs… well then, what DO they like?) Why not create 3 covers, as Ex. 3 asked you to do, and get some feedback on the most successful one. And, please give us some more information about your audience – you need to share that with us to get the best feedback. Get these up ASAP, so this doesn’t hold you back from proceeding into the interior.
