A blog for Summer 2015 NEiA Publication Design class with instructor, Coni Porter. The purpose is to offer faculty and peer feedback in a timely manner, allowing and encouraging the students to progress in a focused and productive way. As the semester ends, this class has produced 117 posts, 263 comments, and been viewed by over 5,000 internet readers. See the last group of postings below to view final student work: sample pages for the (fictional) Habitat Magazine: The Future of Food.
Jehan – Your cover is dark and mysterious… which is strangely compelling. The Editor’s note and TofC work really well together.
As I look through the pages, I realize that page 11 seems quite crowded with content. You actually have 2 different departments on this page… wow, that’s a lot. I would suggest, if you have time, that you make the overall department “Game Changers,” and have both Future Frontiers and Bill Gates sit as sections beneath that one department.
Page 12 – tagline in lower right should end with “…” (an ellipse) and not a “-“ (dash). Then… think about where you want us to go next. Currently, even without the ellipse, we might jump over to the large text in lower right of page 13, “And we will see…”. Is that what you want us to do? If so… these 2 sections of type need to make sense together. Currently we read them together “Here’s what they’re saying about the future of food – and we will see the end of diet.” I wish that made more sense!
