Tyler O'Brien - PSA

Hey folks,

Within the inside cover of my magazine there will be the editor's note along with a public service announcement below it. The PSA's message contains details on how toxins could be present in some form inside the food we eat. It faces the reader with the problem, and then asks them to put some sort of effort by first visiting the website. Please let me know if this comes across the right way when you look at it! Thanks.

  1. Tyler – this is a good idea for the PSA. I can’t read all the little text, but I trust that you will proof it carefully.

Your challenge on this page is to make sure we see the Editor’s Note as being very separate from the PSA. The first thing to do would be to make sure you have more negative space between it and the PSA. Currently, the signature is almost right on top of it.

I notice that the photo of your editor is overly large… she is bleeding into the ad and off the page… no can do. Her photo should be smaller and clearly only part of the Note. Why not reduce her photo and wrap a bit of type around it?

Usually, the ad spaces are either ½ page or ¼ page spaces. So… this ad is too tall. Find a way to reduce its height and stay away from the Note.

I question the alignment of the heading “Editor’s Note”. Why center this? Maybe it could interact with the photo somehow (overlap??). It may need more neg space below itself. Is your margin too small along the top of the page?
