A blog for Summer 2015 NEiA Publication Design class with instructor, Coni Porter. The purpose is to offer faculty and peer feedback in a timely manner, allowing and encouraging the students to progress in a focused and productive way. As the semester ends, this class has produced 117 posts, 263 comments, and been viewed by over 5,000 internet readers. See the last group of postings below to view final student work: sample pages for the (fictional) Habitat Magazine: The Future of Food.
Michael – TofC: The modular grid makes a lot of sense. Great. And this is a good beginning. I say “beginning” because I think you need a bit more content on the page. Would you consider adding images or content below the blurb in the middle… it looks a bit like a “hole” at the moment. What about a silhouette of something… I only mention that because of the strictly rectilinear quality of the layout, and the possibility of introducing some contrast to it.
ReplyDeleteThe Editor’s Note will need to come after this TofC for it to be listed here. Make sure it does, or remove it from here (although I’m really enjoying the cropped eyes).
Features are usually highlighted, or at least listed first (again, because that is where the editorial $$ has been spent) so consider swapping the outside columns – and enlarging the photos used for the features. You have the room, and so why not?
